Innovation and experimentation have been a part of MATSUDA’s DNA since Mitsuhiro Matsuda founded his fashion house in Tokyo in 1967. Recognized as being one of the first designers to meld architecture with fashion, it was his ready-to-wear and eyewear creations that truly captured the attention of the world in the 1980s.
Crafted by hand in the renowned eyewear workshops of Sabae, Japan, Matsuda designs require up to two years and as many as 250 steps to bring to life.
Highest quality materials are used by master craftsmen transforming raw materials into intricately detailed eyewear. Titanium, 18K gold, sterling silver and stainless steel as well as organic plastic derived from cotton and cured for over three months prior to construction then hand-polished.
